In 1893, the New York World (which at the time cost only 5 cents)had their best year ever. This little bit of self congratulations stands in stark contrast to the modern headlines we read every day lamenting the demise of the newspaper industry.
In 1892, the World ADDED 23,724,860 to their circulation numbers over 1891.
They added 107,369 new advertisements (read: revenue).
