President Coolidge presented Col. Charles A. Lindbergh with the Congressional Medal of Honor today. "Surrounded by the highest public officials in the executive departments and by Republican and Democratic congressional leaders, President Coolidge conferred the decoration for 'heroic courage and great skill' in the Lindbergh flight from New York to Paris," informed the Syracuse Herald on March 21, 1928.
Calvin Coolidge delivered a Lincoln Day speech today, becoming the first U.S. president to deliver an address by radio . "Last night in New York City President Calvin Coolidge addressed the National Republican club. He had before him an audience of size, but his voice was heard by millions he did not see. Two large radio stations broadcast the address and men, women and children who may never see the president heard his message," reported The Ogden Standard-Examiner on February 13, 1924.
